Georgia Tech is a unit of the University System of Georgia (USG), which is a public educational organization of the State of Georgia.  Under Section 115 of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), activities at the USG and Georgia Tech performed for their educational purpose of teaching, research, and public service are exempt from U.S. taxation.
